Evening Shade River Lodge Motel and Cabins

We came upon this lovely spot while on a road trip in NC. It was a perfect little spot, right on the river. The proprietors (sorry I didn’t get their names) were most courteous and accommodating. It was quaint and decorated nicely, nothing super fancy but very nice. Very clean. I would definitely stay again.

We have been staying here for years and love it. Never even considered staying anywhere else. Yvonne and Tim are so hospitable and friendly. It is so peaceful sitting on the porch watching the river flow and campfire at night, waterfall, Chimney Rock, campers across the river and the small wildlife. Accommodations are very clean. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Went for a weekend getaway with my husband. Arrived late but the key and directions to room was on the office door. The back of this hotel was beautiful with the views of river. Saw the waterfall from Chimney Rock from our room. The room itself was older, but decorative in a fishing cabin feel. It was clean and comfortable for our short stay. Good water pressure in shower and convenient to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Enjoyed the swing in back watching kids play in river. The bench outside of our room was broke and cigarette butts From people who stayed before other than that it was a nice stay. . We would stay again.s

Unbelievable views of chimney rock from the rooms and great access to the Broad River. Easy access to the town center and parks. Nice and amenable staff. Unfortunately the building could be a hazard risk to those with asthma or other respiratory diseases. I spotted mold in just about every corner of the room and many of the walls and roof tiles are warping from humidity and moisture. I would consider returning but I may not be able to recommend others.

My family and I have been visiting chimney rock for the past 4 years. We always chose to stay st Evening shades! First I want to say how great Yvonne and her husband Tim are ! They are always so welcoming and making sure everything is great while we stay!! They are just overall amazing people! The rooms are very clean and cozy. I have never been disappointed! The view of the river is the icing on the cake. We love staying there! I recommend staying at Evening Shades if your are visiting Chimney Rock!

We normally camp or stick to the chain hotels but we picked this location completely on a whim.. so happy that we did because we love it!! Cozy room with 2 queen size beds and a small sitting area. On porch out front there are 2 rocking chairs to relax and enjoy the sounds of the river/stream that runs through the back of property. There are fire pits and grills out back. Very convenient to "downtown" Chimney Rock and the entrance to Chimney Rock State Park. Hickory Nut waterfall and the flag platform were both visible from our porch!! We will definitely be back

This is such a pretty place to stay, my parents took me here when I was a child and remember playing on the river rocks. I hope you can rebuild soon. I really couldn't believe the review from your employee, thought maybe it was sick hack. You and everyone in Chimney Rock is devasted, some lost their loved ones and many are living in tests and this guy is complaining about getting a big chunk of money?

First off, the people in the office are amazing and so welcoming! Just visited for the 4th of July for a relaxing weekend get away. The property was beautiful and the sweet fulltime neighbor next door was a delight to meet. Very clean cabin with all the basic needs. I will always remember this trip and I hope to return to such a beautiful little town.
